It was narrated on the authority of a man that he had fallen into severe distress and weighed on him until his debt reached five hundred dinars and was unable to pay it off, and many claimants of their debts
So he went to a merchant and borrowed from him this amount and stipulated that he pay it on a specific date that they agreed upon and he went and returned the debts to their owners. Days and nights passed, and the situation was getting worse and worse until the time came to repay the debt and the man did not have a dirham or a dinar, but his debt increased above that debt and the trader came The owner of the money is asking for his money but he did not find anything with which to pay off his debt, so he went and complained to the judge, so the judge sentenced the man to prison until he paid the debt, so the man said to the judge:
Sir, give me the time to tomorrow so that I can tell my wife and secure my children so that they will not be distracted by me
The judge said to the man:
What is the guarantee that you will return tomorrow?
The man said:
My guarantor is the Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family). If I do not return, bear witness to me in this world and the hereafter that I am not from the ummah of Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family.
The judge was good, so he estimated this guarantee and accepted and let the man go to his family.
When the man returned to his house and told his wife the news, what was from this righteous wife except that she said to her husband, since the Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) is your guarantee with the judge, so come and pray to the Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) so that God may release us with his blessing.
The man and his wife sat praying upon the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) until they fell asleep
The man sees the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) in his sleep
And he tells him:
If it is morning, go to the governor and read it from me, peace
And the Messenger of God said to him (may God bless him and his family and grant him peace) He asks you to pay off the debt on my behalf
If he asks you about your sign of honesty ... then tell him:
There are two signs?
The first:
That the governor prays for me a thousand times every night, never interrupts it
And the second sign:
She made a mistake in counting her last night, telling him that she had arrived completely
When the man woke up, he rushed to the governor of Medina, and entered him and greeted him
Then he told him:
The Messenger (may God bless him and grant him peace) reads you peace and asks you to pay off my debt
He said: How much is your debt?
He said: Five hundred dinars
Then the governor said: What is the sign of your sincerity in what you say?
The man said: There are two signs
First: You pray upon the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) every night a thousand times,
The governor said: You are right.
Then the governor cried
Then the man said: As for the second sign that you made a mistake after last night, and the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) announces that she has arrived completely
The governor said: I was right, and his crying increased, so he ordered him five hundred dinars from the treasury, then he ordered him two thousand five hundred dinars of his own money
And he said: This is an honor to you and the peace of the Messenger of God (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace).
So the man went out quickly to realize the judge to pay off his debt and to honor his promise to the judge
When he entered the judge ..
He found the judge waiting for him with a bag with money in his hand, and then the judge told him: I will pay the debt on your behalf, and this is five hundred dinars from me to you. Because I saw the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) with your blessing and because of you
And he said to me: If I paid on behalf of this man, we shall be condemned on your behalf on the Day of Resurrection
If the merchant who owns the money enters and says to the judge:
Sir, I pardoned him and forgave him for the debt, and this is five hundred dinars as a gift from me to him. Because I saw the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) with his blessing and because of him
And he told me that I pardoned him. I will forgive you on Judgment Day
So the man went out from the judge's cheerful stand, and he rushed to his wife and told her what was of his order
He used to ask for someone to pay five hundred dinars on his behalf, and now he returns to his house and carries four thousand dinars, and all of this happened with the blessing and the virtue of prayer for our master Muhammad.
(May God bless him and his family and grant him peace).
